My guess is, it should be related to partition corruption but not sure. For most of the other folder i got I/O error.

The issue, like many others have stated, is most likely a power supply problem. 'WD My Passport 0748 External Drive Windows 7 Not Recognized In My Computer' ,I have this WD Passport, and all I want to do is get the information off of it onto my cloud storage. Then it had issues ranging from cutting out to eventually not being recognized as anything more than a 'USB device'. I also tried to access folder contain through command line by going into /Volumes/myharddisk/fewfolders but even with command line was able to access couple of folders. I bought A WD Passport 250gb hard drive a couple weeks ago.

On the side note, Before few hours I tried accessing the same drive in MAC, I could able to see the drive in MAC but 50% of the folders, also none of the folders were getting open. If you have already checked your USB port and all the ports are not recognizing the WD my passport Ultra, you can try changing the USB cable.

If you are still unable to detect it, follow the next steps. Now, the 5 VDC supply of power from a USB2 port is limited to 0.5 amps max, but USB3 increased that limit to 0.9 amps.
